Run a live quiz or wall

Bring phones into one room where answers change the tally live.

recipe~5 minVerified v0.127.10

Goal

Bring phones into one room where answers change the tally live.

What you’ll have

A science quiz opens with a question everyone can answer.

Prompt

Run a live quiz or wall
Your agent builds the page and checks the result with you.

Needs

  • Questions, a host and phones with a connection.
  • A free live room. A room holds up to 500 phones on every plan, and your workspace runs a set number of rooms at once (one on Free); see Live rooms.
  • A quiz for fun or practice. The template's answer key travels inside the page; for a score that counts, use the quiz prompt instead.

Steps

  1. A free room

The agent checks that no other artifact of yours holds the live room.

  2. A live page

The live-quiz template supplies the question and answer screens. The host screen is your own signed-in page, or a named Editor's.

  3. Phones join

People open the participant link on their phones.

  4. The tally moves

Answers arrive in the host’s live view during the question.

Check it worked

Two phones join the same room. Their answers change the host’s tally without a page reload.

If not

  • A phone cannot join: The prompt asks the agent to check access.
  • The header says live is paused: another of your artifacts holds the room. Answers still save; close that artifact's tabs or turn its live connections off, and the page joins within 20 seconds.
  • The tally is still: The prompt asks it to check the live connection and that both phones joined the same room.

Variations

  • The live-wall template collects short messages instead.
  • A fresh artifact gives the next session its own answers. On Free only one room runs at a time, so close the last session's tabs first.
